It seems the Germans are masters of special editions, whether it’s the dozens of different Porsche 911 models that have rolled out over the years, or lately, the various limited-run variants of the BMW M3, including the Frozen Sliver Edition, the China-only Carbon Edition, and the ultra-exclusive Frozen Black Edition. You can add one more to that lineup with the 2013 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition.
The M3 Lime Rock Park Edition represents the long-standing relationship between BMW and the historic 1.5-mile Lime Rock Park track in Connecticut, owned and managed by Skip Barber, widely-known for his driving school which for decades featured BMW cars. So what does the princely sum get you? The special trim includes the Competition Package, a carbon fiber composite roof panel, a lightweight Inconel-titanium exhaust system, carbon fiber front and rear aerodynamic aids, and an Alcantara-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel. Each BMW M3 Lime Rock Park edition will be designated by a numbered plaque on the center console, a decal on the left-rear quarter window, and a certificate of authenticity.
The M3 Lime Rock Park Edition will be available for delivery starting in September. The $70,995 price tag includes a $895 destination charge. If you want one in your garage, act fast, as only 200 units will be built.
